Bash Bush

Lately, I've been really into politics. The more I read, the more I seem to see how messed up our American system is. Sure, it's generally good, but not the way it's being dealt with now. There are so many different problems right now, but people are still going around putting on the farce of America being number 1 and that we have to reach out to ( Read more... )

:O! Finally another poli-sci girl in my flist! Jani!poli-sci major is happy xDDD~

I'm really looking forward to the 2008 election. That's like, one of the few instances where I regret I'm not an American citizen? Because seriously, it's so much fun and the movement of USA gov't is always at the top of worldly newspapers/magazines/etc. so yeah~ (here we basically study USA politics instead of Canadian politics... seriously, do we ever do ANYthing that's not affected by other countries these days? Geez where's the national identity and whatever .-.)

Ooooh... Didn't know that was your major :D Then again, I suppose since you were like a super debater, it's not too much of a surprise :P

Yeaaahhh I'm totally excited about the 2008 elections! This will not only be my first one, but it'll also be a historical election. I mean there are two "firsts" running. YEAH. Go Obama!

Is Canadian politics supposed to be really different from the US o.o? I'm not totally sure, but I always thought it was a democratic/republican system like us. Heh, I think the problem with the US is that we have *too much* of a national identity. I gets to be a little overbearing at times.

Haha well, poli-sci is just a part of my double-major and I'm not too fond of the program itself, though the content offered proves to be quite interesting :3 Canadian politics... well shall I say we're more socialist these days instead of what the definition of democracy says? US is actually better in that sense - one of the reasons our country's economy can never grow as big, apart from the stupid weather in general and the tiny puny population figure xD

You're socialist? o.o; Well, no worries. We're not exactly democratic either... RARR we *really* need to revise the voting and nomination system!! Like we practically have no power cuz of the electorals. I sometimes don't even see the point of voting with that systems around. The electoral system should be gone! Rar.

Haha, isn't it ironic that you're debating over Iraq when you hardly even know anything about your neihgbour countries :P? And it's not like you have that many.

It's the media's fault I tell you! Us regular citizens are controlled by them! And besides, people usually don't care to learn about things if there's no problem. Human nature.

Well, might be true that the media's also at fault, but I bet there are some news about Canada there, just maybe not around the headlines... And well, problems are one thing, news are another. Dunno how other people are, I like to know what happens around the world, at least vaguely. Though I admit I don't hear often about South-America, Africa, Australia, or even Asia (except Japan, China and Russia, plus a bit of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan), I assume because they're not considered significant for us.

On another note, I doubt Iraq is the only part of the world stirring, how about Central Africa? How often do you hear about that? Let me guess, almost never?

Well, if the news aren't exactly headlines or anything, then it's probably nothing too important that has to do with me. Like most other people, I only care about things that would somehow relate to me or if it's interesting. And news usually are problems. News rarely report about anything that's going on right. When they do, people don't usually pay much attention to them. They just go, "Okay, so that's fine. Let's move onto the next problem." Like I said, it's human nature ( ... )
