“Tsk. I’m back.”
Daiki gave a cold short laugh, turned around and went upstairs.
Yuya’s heart, mind and all was in a mess when he saw the coldness in Daiki’s eyes.
Telling Rina that he’ll just be up there to check on Daiki, he ran after the latter.
Before Daiki could slam the door shut, Yuya rushed in and closed the door behind him.
Not caring about Daiki’s struggles, he hugged him as tightly as possible.
“Daiki please, please listen to me...”
“Let go. I don’t want to see you. Go away!”
“I’m sorry it’s all my fault. Let me explain, please. Truth is, I was with her right from the start… We met each other when I was studying overseas in America. But after we got together, your father saw me as a capable worker hence I wanted to marry her as soon as possible so I could help out here… He knew that you were not interested in the business world which is why he didn’t force you to work in the company..”
“Your father really loves you Daiki. He knows that you were not on good terms with Rina which is also why he asked me to be your tutor and get closer to you. I’ve always kept this from you because I thought it would be eaiser to tell you once I get to know you better but... our relationship now..”
“It’s my fault... I’m sorry.. Your sister-“
“SHE’S NOT MY SISTER!”
The shout, filled with cries echoed through Yuya’s ears. Daiki was already crying hysterically.
Shocked, he pulled away, at the same time tries to look at Daiki’s expression but instead, he was pushed away.
“Why must it be her… Why is it always her?! You should know I hated her! You knew!”
“I’m sorry Daiki, I-“
“That time… that time it was all because of her.. my father insisted on bringing the child of the woman he had outside home.. all this.. it forced my mother to kill herself…”
“I was just six at that time.. do you even know how it feels for a six year old to watch his mother gets forced to death by the child of his father’s other woman?!”
Yuya was too shocked for words. He never knew Daiki underwent such a traumatic experience.
“Rina.. since young she took away all that I had. My mother, my father, all the things that belonged to me. My toys, my friends, smiles, happiness. You knew I hated her!”
Seeing Daiki like this, the Daiki who always seemed to be strong although emotionless, how all these had affected his life so badly, Yuya wanted to just slap himself in the face hard.
He was about to walk closer to Daiki when he stopped crying and spoke again.
“You thought I really didn’t know any of this…? Let me tell you. 2 months ago, I walked past my father’s room and I heard him talking to her. After that day, I learnt about everything. I gave you chance, a chance for you to tell me all this one day. I really love you, you know that…”
Yuya couldn’t think anymore, he could only stare at Daiki, feeling damn guilty.
“If, I ask you now, will you choose me… or her?
Yuya panicked, there were times where he had actually tried to choose between them in his mind, but he felt that they both hold the same place in his heart, no one is better than the other.
Now, it’s still the same.
Daiki looked at Yuya’s face and gave the same cold laugh.
“I understand now… You can get out now.”
“No wait, Daiki listen to me, I love Rina but I love you as much as her as well, I know I’m being a jerk right now but-“
“GET. OUT. I don’t want to see any of you guys, get the hell out now!”
Not wanting Daiki to get even madder, Yuya slowly retreated from the room.
While he lowered his head, thinking of a countermeasure, Rina hugged him from the back.
“Don’t think too much now. Let’s stop for today alright? You still can talk to him tomorrow.”
Yuya shaked his head, he knew it himself, if he were to choose between the both of them, the 2 of them must not be at the same place together.
At the end of the day, he returned to his home and took a shower. Standing in front of his windows wearing only his bathrobe, he stared into space, only to be disturbed by an incoming mail.
A mail from Daiki.
He picked up his phone and read the message.
But, only a sentence was said.
I just love you, goodbye.
