It was a long way to the base of the mountain.
...Another drabble. Because Yonggook would look good with a huge axe and Fujigaya is a bunny warrior too.
“You think you can handle it?” Yonggook asked, casually, axe swung over his shoulder.
With his hand just as casually curled around his sword, Fujigaya smiled. “I think so.”
The plains sprawled out before them, wretched and cracked, stained with the blackness of nothing. But they both knew that as soon as they stepped foot on the ground, the broken and the damned would come swarming, wanting to put out the light of their souls. It was a long way to the base of the mountain, to the gates into the depths of the earth where Fujigaya and Yonggook needed to enter.
“Why are we doing this again?” Fujigaya asked, wrinkling his nose as he eyed the distance. He was a warrior at the top of his game and he trusted Yonggook (though heaven help him, he wasn’t sure why) but they were only two compared to the hundreds that lay slumbering underground.
“Because your leader went and got himself and my second-in-command captured and we need to reach them before they’re drained of all their blood and chopped up into itty-bitty pieces in some heinous ritual of the damned,” Yonggook replied, cheerful as ever though there was a hard glint in his eyes.
“You make it sound like it’s all Kitayama’s fault,” Fujigaya said as he unsheathed his sword. “You’re forgetting that Himchan tripped the alarms.”
“After Kitayama dumped them both in the river!”
“Whatever,” Fujigaya laughed, letting his blade reflect the madness of the plains before them. “I think I’m definitely up for a little slaying. Shall we?”
Hefting his axe into the air, Yonggook winked at him. “After you, Warrior.”
