Gold Fire, Silver Rain
MA/THEY - Yara/Yamaryo
163 words, PG-13, AU (character death)
“You will never be alone, Ryouta.”
Written for 10minutes, for the prompt 'Silver'.
Silver rain fell and Yara lost a bit of himself with every heartbreaking raindrop.
“Why… are you crying, little one?” he asked, forcing his eyes open, trying his best to smile, to be brave - for that was his duty to Ryouta. “This rain is no good for you.”
Ryouta held him, cradling him tenderly as the rain fell harder. “No… No, Tomo. You can’t…” It was a soft, pathetic plea, something Yara would usually scold Ryouta for, but this time… this time he just wished he could obey.
“You will never be alone, Ryouta.”
“I won’t have you though,” Ryouta sobbed.
Yara’s smile slipped from his face - god, he was so tired - but he reached up, forcing Ryouta to look into his eyes. “Little one, I will always be watching you.”
Silver ran into gold as Ryouta held him close, tight, but not tight enough to make Yara stay.
Silver rain fell on gold fire until, slowly, the fire was extinguished.
“Goodbye, Ryouta.”
