Stay by me ABC-Z - Totsuka/Tsukada, background Kitayama 581 words, PG, Aki!AU There were a lot of things Totsuka could say he loved about Tsukada.
[Notes]Written for Daybreaker! :D/ And this is part of my verse with KitaFuji and Aki and if you don't know what that is, that is okay because I'm not ready to write that part. Anyway, established relationships are so nice to write okay T_T I don't do drama-free often enough. And Ebi. I should write more Ebi.

There were a lot of things Totsuka could say he loved about Tsukada, but that he was uncomplicated was currently on the top of his list.
It wasn't that Tsukada was simple - Tsukada was far from that - it was just that he was straightforward and blunt, even if the words coming out of his mouth were utterly absurd or insane.
"He's brooding," said Totsuka as he opened the access panel. The hallway mid-deck had been experiencing minor malfunctions and he'd grabbed Tsukada on the way to repair it.
Tsukada glanced over with an understanding smile (because Tsukada was always smiling no matter what), running diagnostics while Totsuka began checking wires. "Captain?"
"Yes." Totsuka's lips pulled down in a frown. "And I know why, but it's frustrating. He always makes up for his snapping and all, but he won't talk about it." Kitayama's recent rough edges, along with Fujigaya's sudden depature from the ship, had caused many a problem on Daybreaker and it was starting to really get to the crew, something Totsuka hated that he couldn't fix, not only for the crew, but also because he and Kitayama went way back, having been good friends long before they'd started their mad adventures on this ship.
Tsukada understood this and was sympathetic. "I know... but I don't think anyone's going to get over Taisuke leaving like that so soon, especially the Captain."
Totsuka grunted in acknowledgement, but didn't answer quite yet because he'd found the fried wires that had been causing problems. Isolating them, he began splicing in repairs.
And Tsukada was right. Daybreaker's crew was small, only twelve men aboard, and now only eleven. The ship was their home, the other crewmembers were family. Fujigaya's sudden flight had been sad and confusing for all of them. "I just wish... I just wish he'd take a break? Like he's always up in the flight room and it puts everyone on edge and I just want him to step back and give himself some time, maybe let us stop planetside for a week or two to just... let it go."
It would be a good break for them all, honestly. Some of the younger crew were going stir-crazy, and Totsuka and Tsukada hadn't been on a proper date in months.
Tsukada walked over, dropping down into a crouch so he could press a kiss to Totsuka's temple. "It'll be okay," he said, smiling against Totsuka's skin. "Captain's a grown man, he'll sort himself out when he's ready. But for you, I'll ask Kawai to press the matter with him, because sometimes your methods are too nice and I think a planetside break is a great idea. In the meantime, why don't we, once you're done with that, go down to the rec room and do some sparring."
Totsuka laughed, shoving Tsukada away so he could finish putting everything back together, but he was smiling and some of the tension had eased from his shoulders. It was, again, something he loved about Tsukada.
"Give me a few minutes to change," he said, leaning over to kiss Tsukada once the panel was back in place and the problem done away with. He'd have to get out of his bulky jumpsuit. "Null gravity, okay, I want you to show me how to do that kick."
Tsukada nodded, kissed him again, and then got up to leave. Totsuka lingered just long enough to watch him go.
(Tsukada's ass was just a really great ass, okay.)
