Encrusted on the table,
Blackened and bitter.
Melted together and immobile.
What was once pure
And used with utmost care
Is now merely an unsightly stain.
The sugar is scorched,
burned and caked onto the hard surface.
It has lost its intoxicating taste,
And its sweet flavor.
What is left is which no one wants.
