I had a lot of thoughts flooding around about this episode, but I'm kind of overwhelmed by the idea of trying to be coherent about it. (I know flu-brain is probably the least catastrophic thing in the world, but seriously, I can't even sit up straight to type this out.)

I don't think he'll die right now, but I wish they would stop killing him! Seriously. Also, though, if she's shooting at him at point blank range, does she intend to kill him? And if she is the murderer, was she like super shocked when Alaric wasn't dead after she presumably stabbed him?

Me too! Because I know I'm being jerked around and he won't really die, but I still buy it enough to get nervous.
And yeah, I'd still put odds on her not being the killer.

So, I don't know if the witches storyline shows they're just straight-up the most clueless people ever, or if it's the best indication yet that they're actually listening to some of the more thoughtful criticisms
Me too. The only reason it does feel like they're conscious is that this episode was written by Michael Narducci who is probably the best of the lot at writing Bonnie and witch stuff in general. Idk, idk, I hope so.
YES TO EVERYTHING ABBY, BONNIE. Ugh, please can she transition, please can they show it onscreen, please can they not waste this really brilliant story they've got in their hands.
Yeah, Ric's not dead. I must admit that when it happened, I was like, oh - it's Thursday.
