Hellooo....??

As some of you may have noticed, I've been seen again in these parts. I've missed you guys!

I've been trying to avoid spending too much time following your election, when we are in the midst of our own up here, but let's be honest, ours isn't near as exciting as yours ( Read more... )

I guess I can't complain, when the big issues are the environment, the economy, and the arts, rather than billions of dollars spent on war. And the conservatives won't touch the abortion issue, despite the Anti-Choice crowd's upheaval.

Oh, and our idea of a smear campaign? Jack Layton poking fun at Steven Harper's sweater vests. (I'll admit, they are pretty nerdy.)

I wish the war was an issue. It's not. The neocons still drive the issue and they seem to think that it's all about winning. People seem to have forgotten that there is still incredible violence going on there. Everyone with any objections is silenced with the mantra The Surge Worked. Yeah, the surge worked, but people are still dying. Questions about the cost of the two pronged war are rebuffed with answers draped in patriotic nationalism, and a strong accusation of refusing to Support the Troops.

Every day I get a reminder in my mail about the number of dead in Iraq. The number includes Iraqi police and civilians dead and wounded, along with the international military dead and wounded. Every day I get a little more ill and a lot more disgusted with the way Americans behave.

I'd love to discuss sane subjects like the environment, the economy, and the arts.

You will get a kick out of this.

By the time I checked it, a few more posts had been made, but I like this one. Too bad she didn't have those cheat sheets during the Couric interview.

If Harper had been prime minister in 2003, he likely would have sent troops to Iraq. He may think the sweater vest softens his image, but I can see right through it.
