Eliminating Noises in Words

I'm quite new to podficcing and hoping someone can help me with a problem I always have when reading. My voice can be perfectly clear for a few sentences and then I'll say a something and you can hear the noise of what I think is the air hitting the mic as I form the sound (I hope that makes sense because I can't think how else to describe it). Hey, I think what you're describing is what most people call "pops" or "splosives", and yeah, it's generally caused by the position of your mic. Since you've got a headset mic, I'd suggest positioning the mic close to your face, but level with your chin/below your lip. That way it's close enough to pick up your voice, but out of the way of your air stream.

Positioning the mic further away from your self, or using a pop screen can also help with this issue, but those aren't real options with a headset mic.

As for dealing with it in post-production, greedy_dancer has a tutorial that might help.

Thank you for your help! I'm using a headset mic so I'll have to try and remove them post-production.

You can buy pop screens, but you can also make one from any sort of frame (embroidery, picture etc. ) with pantyhose stretched over it. I did a post on it ages ago on this comm. I have a frame attached to a cardboard base like an L in cross section, and I stick the base under my laptop to keep it in place.

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately I only have a headset mic at the moment so I can't use a pop screen, but if I do more podfics I might switch microphones and try one out.

I put a sock over my headset mic and that helps a little.
