So, I'm working (I say working, I'm re-recording the entire thing) on a podfic in which explicit violence plays a large(ish) part, and I know that some fans/potential listeners are not fans of the violence, but everything else in the fic ( Read more... )

I think if you're willing to do it, that's great!

I don't think I've seen it done that way specifically, but reena_jenkins has done warning "chapters" in her podfics before, telling listeners when a specific trigger takes place, (for example Screaming Down the Starlit Sky, I believe), but she's the only one that I can think of who's done more than "this podfic contains this trigger"

I mean, listing all the warnings/potential triggers I'll definitely do at the beginning of the podfic. Hadn't considered doing it at the beginning of a chapter, because, honestly, all of them have warnings.

Hm, I'll probably end up doing skippable bits. I'm going to record in smaller files anyway, might as well create a new file for when the icky stuff happens. This should make it easier for the mp3 version in any case.

Since I already got you here, can I go OT for a sec? You mentioned your recording booth in auralphonic a couple of times. Is this a repurposed closet/office in your home, or did you literally build a booth?

Ha, I literally built a room in the corner of my basement. I did a write up about it after it was done, but it looks like all the pictures are broken bc I accidentally deleted them from my server.
