This was sooooo the best thing to find waiting for me when I arrived home from work! I loved that the focus was on Sam for once. And you know that he has just reached that point where Andy had broken up with Luke and he might have to wait a bit, but it'd all be ok, and BOOM. New Luke. I could absolutely picture the forced smiles and fake enthusiasm and Andy getting more and more pissy. Jealous Sam is all kinds of awesome. And Andy couldn't resist could she.

Best bit? Oliver and Sam.
Oliver stares at him for a beat, assessing. Then, because Oliver’s good people, claps him on the shoulder as they make for the door.

“Yeah, okay, we can play it that way. You know what sucks worse than your sleeping on your shitty sofa bed? Sleeping on a sofa bed in a house I’m paying the mortgage on with my daughter’s Nemo pillow for company.”
Because it's basically canon.

Perfect! I love how this fits right into the canon, like a missing scene/half episode. And then since we all know how the finale went, I don’t feel sad that they didn’t get together :) It’s great to read fic from Sam’s POV. He always seems to be more in touch with his feelings/opinions, which is lovely.

"Whoa, McNally. I didn't know we were playing Seven Minutes in Heaven. Your boyfriend won’t get mad?"
She shoves off him, shoves him away like he's burning her.
"You wish, Sam."
And yeah, he does wish, so he stays quiet. That seems to throw her for a second before she remembers what had her cornering him, guns ablazin’. This is exactly their dynamic lol.

AWWMAAN. Did not want this to end, at all. 100% delightful and cheesy-grin-inducing, and there are no words for how much I love BBQ-fic and the frequency with which it appears in this fandom. <3 There needs to be a Shaw family BBQ on the show, SO BADLY.

Y'see, with all the "them being normal" fic that's going around, I hadn't realised how much I was missing Pining!Sam fic.

Charming, in spite of opulent amounts of beer, charming, the way oblivious Andy and jealous Sam can be.

I already thought that you'll go AU on the first time, *g*, but no, lovely piece, filling in for the bbq that we haven't gotten yet (*casts accusing looks at TPTB*) and it works so well.
