I guess technically I "broke edge". I thought about it long and hard and when I first claimed edge I was 16.. and my reasoning was because I didn't need to drink to have fun. I stopped calling myself straight edge awhile ago because I really don't need a title that says "look at me, I don't drink or do drugs". Recently I realized that I was missing out on the social aspect of things, it's perfectly legal and when used responsibly, it can be fun. I'm in no way going to turn into a drunk or start doing drugs. This was my decision and if someone loses respect for me or thinks any less of me because of this.. well, that's their problem. I was never on a high horse. I'm just like everyone else. Hopefully that answers your question.
