I've been trying to improve on my icons, especially in the coloring realm. Here are just a few that I've made in the last couple days, along with my original base. This is so you can hopefully have a better idea of the changes I made. I'm looking for things you like about them, don't like about them, ways I could improve, and ways you think I ( Read more... )

I'm glad you liked the first one. I think it turned out the best, especially considering the original pic quality. And when I found that brush I knew it was the one. I wasn't sure whether it would cover up stuff, but I don't think it does. I'm please with the cropping as well.

The circle and text on the second one is just one whole brush. I love. I rarely do bright and crazy icons, but I like this one. I agree that the yellow perhaps a bit TOO yellow, didn't see that at the time, but now I do.

d out. This one was going to be B&W, but it didn't finish that way, lol. I love the 'not quite B&W, not quite sepia, not quite color' look a lot. And I like the shadow on her face.

No wonder your B&Ws are so good!!! They are originally B&Ws!!!! I've never worked with an original B&W pic before and the desat function on GIMP isn't the best. This was my first time trying to blend in the text with the pic more and I love how it looks.

Never tried those burn layers before.....and GIMP doesn't have an Exclusion layer mode.
