It was dark. So dark that you wouldn’t be able to see one foot in front of you. Jaime could’ve cheated and told the scarab to give him temporary night vision but that’s not what the exercise was about. It was about stealth and tact. So he just found a spot right behind one of the couches and crouched down, hiding from Robin and his flashlight.

And he would’ve been just fine if a certain speedster hadn’t shown up.

“Hey, can I hide here too?” Bart whispered.

“What? No, Bart, this is my hiding spot! Get your own!” Jaime hissed.

Instead of going and doing what he was told, Bart just plopped down right next to Jaime and slung an arm over his shoulders. And if that wasn’t enough, Bart even had the gall to rest his head on Jaime’s shoulder as he said, “But it’s dark. You wouldn’t want me to be by myself when it’s dark, would ya?”

“Okay, okay. Just… just be quiet, okay? Otherwise Robin will totally hear us and we’ll lose okay?”

Satisfied, Bart replied with a cheery, “You got it,” and then fell quiet.

But Jaime should’ve known that Bart wasn’t good at sitting still or keeping quiet. About five minutes after the speedster had sat down next to Jaime, he started to squirm. And not only that but Jaime also felt the need to shift. He should’ve known that speedsters give off more body heat because of their metabolism but damn!

“Bart, skooch that way. You’re really hot and it’s making me uncomfortable.”

He realized how that must’ve sounded even before he’d finished that sentence. “I mean-!”

“Jaime, you naughty thing, you! I had no idea!” Bart practically shouted out. And before Jaime could even think, “Dear God what have I done?” he had a lapful of speedster, felt arms wrapping around his neck and had a distinct feeling of regretting his words.

“How often do you think about me like that, Jaime? I bet we do it all the time in your head, don’t we? Do I make you hot? So hot that you can’t focus on anything else? You just think about me and my beautiful toned speedster body and you just can’t do anything. Right, Jaime?”

Before Jaime could tell Bart exactly how wrong he was and convince himself that this wasn’t the hottest thing that had ever happened to him, he was blinded by a bright light being shined on them. As his eyes adjusted, he could see Robin pointing a flashlight at them and staring completely dumbfounded.

“Uh… sorry. I-I thought um… I’ll just go.”

“Wait, Robin!” Jaime yelled.

“Good. Glad he’s gone. He’ll probably warn the others to not come looking for us. Looks like it’s just you and me. So what do you say, Jaime? You want me to make all your dreams come true?”

Jaime was about to say that those kinds of dreams would be nightmares but was cut short with one quick kiss.
