THE STILL AUTUMN AIR
(T. Beechey)

I awoke to the lingering scent of a dream
And it seemed as if I was still there
Where you and I danced to the flow of a stream
In the chill of the still autumn air

You looked so lovely in your dress, colored cream
As each sunbeam touched on your hair
And I had not a care, they were lost in the gleam
Of the chill in the still autumn air

The smile on your face was truly a theme
To be deemed everafter as fair
Where the light of your eyes shone through the steam
In the chill of the still autumn air

And as I awoke to the unending scream
Of the seams of the world growing rare...
I silenced my stare to return to the dream
Of the chill in the still autumn air
