I grew up being told that it was possible for people to overcome emotions when necessary. At every turn this is proved wrong. I suppose I end where I began. With the depressing knowledge that people CAN think. but prefer not to.

oh of course, thinking is hard and often leads you to realize just how confusing it all really is, so people tend to avoid it, prefering to let whoever/whatever else do it for them

as for emotions, they are not connected to logic in the slightest, and as such are almost impossible to control

........and yes, it gets so very very depressing

I wouldn't want people to be able to control their emotions, just not be controlled by them all the time. I just... get tired of watching people make the same mistakes again and again, year after year, but not being able to help them if they wont help themselves
