Okay, for those who haven't seen this yet, bcholmes, someone I'm quite proud to call a friend, has a set of links here for how you can get help to Haiti. I trust her judgement on which places to send money far more than I trust the UN or our government

Also for those of you here in the US: From US State Department website: text "HAITI" to "90999" and $10 will be donated to Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill.

I donated to the Canadian Red Cross. Just as another option.

I would also like to add that CARE (originator of the CARE package) had people on the ground in Haiti already. Communications with them were still down as of this morning, but if they survived, they will be working on disaster relief.

I do support Doctors without Borders, but CARE (where my husband works and has been up all night working on this) is another focus with rescue, water, medical, housing, and social program aid. They are in coalition with other aid groups as well, so the money donated will be funnelled to the aid group with the best access or programs at any given time. All disaster aid money to this group is going to Haiti right now.
