I finally worked up the courage to do something that I should have done a long time ago.

I went through my f-list and unfriended anyone who had posted inappropriate material more than once.

I do understand that my definition of 'inappropriate' is broader than most peoples.  In this instance I mean anyone using foul language or posting uncalled- ( Read more... )

Hmm...good for you for standing up for yourself! *hugs*

I couldn't say about why...I don't think I have been friends with those folks/comms so don't know who they are...all of my f-list is the same as before ;)

In part I agree with you, and especially so in youth when you're trying to guard your innocence, totally. And for what it's worth, I agree with you on the downhill trend I've seen lately in some comms.

However, I don't think commenting on other people's posts, however inappropriate they are, is being a good testimony; nothing turns people off to Christians more than a soapboxer, at least in my personal experience. De-friending with a kind explanation as to why, that it has nothing to do with the user themselves, is the proper way to go about it. Leaving comments about inappropriate content on a journal that isn't ours - everyone has free speech, and we're the ones who chose to friend them - isn't the right thing to do. In my opinion you did the proper and right and courteous thing by simply defriending. *nods*
