I think that you are seriously on to something. I scaled down this year on everyone but my kids. The past few Xmases were really scant for them because of my finances, so this year I went a bit crazy. But I also feel like it's supposed to be all about them anyway! The funny thing is, no one else noticed that I scaled back. :)

I honestly don't think people care if you go all out with them. I only had one person look at me crazy when I explained myself and that was my supervisor when I told her I wasn't contributing to the division director's gift. Whateva. I think you take more time to think about the important things and spend time with family when you're not so focused on presents. I'm glad you're kids have been able to be understanding when you were able to go all out for them before though.
Honestly we just end up exchanging money when we do all that gift giving anyway. We might as well just exchange checks.

You know... we went through that one year, and it was really about finding a balance or a reality of what works for us.

Xmas is commercialized. But I've decided to still do it for the kids. Not to go into debt for it. To only buy what you want to, not out of obligation. Because you know what???

It really is his birthday, & from what I understand, he really doesn't care that you celebrate it anyway.

His death though?? ... now that's what makes a whole lotta things go round, and make sense in this world; that he died for us.

But I am not trying to preach to the choir Sweets.. .how the heck are ya?!!!
