That seems rather silly...they KNOW this is going to be a "big first day" book, shouldn't the publisher front load it? Or the booksellers order like mad? It IS returnable, after all, and it's not like it has a short shelf life.
No, you cannot "order like mad" There is only so much a publisher can publish at a certain time. Seeing as HP is not their only book, they are booked. This is why it takes about a year for a book to come out in paperback. You do not return a book to the publisher unless they ask for it, usually. Unless of course you have way too many and therefore rip the front off and return that and throw the rest of the book away. The stores get 5% extra of what they have on reserve.
my honey ordered the british version... I've got the American reserved at greenbriar since there's no way in hell there's going to be a new store for my area. I'm looking forward to it. I got my last PR certificate so I'm saving it for HP.. gonna cost me 7.99!!
yeah, like the last week the store was open, we bought a huge pile of books.. we figured we'd get them while I still got the discount & it would be a few less books to be destroyed or packed up.
