as scary as the housing market is right now, I want to buy a bigger house and the cheaper the better! although I think it would be tremendously funny to find a house twice the size of our current one (which is 3 bed 1 bath, 980 square feet on a huge lot) for less money than what we are paying for our current house. (We would rent this one out and we got a wonderful price when we got it)

If you are looking now then I'd consider a foreclosure. Otherwise, sometime around 2011 to 2015 would be a good entry point. :)

Someone told me that there's at least 7 foreclosures on my street alone. It's just scary.

A one bedroom plus loft condo in our neighborhood recently went on the market for $240,000. A neighbor near us bought practically the same floor plan for around $320,000 or so about a year ago.
