Honoring the Fallen
Among them Desidero, brother of Major Valery

Service to another is the greatest honor of all
Sacrifice for another, unintentional or not
Deserves a place in our memory
     For all of eternity
You who have fallen, I bow before you
     Servicemen and women
     Desidero among them
May you find peace, whatever that entails
     Cooling hearts fueled with vengeance
     Guiding hearts sore with grief
You who have fallen, I bow before you
The day is too short to honor your deeds
The night too short to see your souls off

The greatest burden to bear, you have done so
To the bitter end, you served your Queen
May your loved ones find solace in your noble deaths
And grant Her Majesty wisdom in the aftermath of tragedy

With these words I seek to honor your memory
     To carry with me always
To hold your story when I too am gone

You who have fallen, I bow before you

I expect there will be a number of wakes - or perhaps one communal one - being held for the Queen's Guards who have passed on. Normally I would offer up my services to prepare funeral garbs for them, but surely there will be no greater honor than their own uniforms to wear in death. Therefore, I would like to offer to mend those uniforms to those who would accept my aid, or to prepare funeral shrouds.
