The sun is a languishing red over the hazy sky and is dim enough to look at directly even in the middle of the day. I brush a white dust off of my car before I drive, it is unmistakable, ash. People at work are coughing and sneezing but I seem to be spared that so far. Instead I have an unrelated disease who's symptoms are unpleasant enough that

The ash and smoke is from the fires. It reaches all the way here. And power plants have VERY strict emissions regulations, and would never, ever spew out ash.
