I JUST SAW THE HUNGER GAMES

I fucking loved it.

(Is it bad I'm relieved I actually like something popular?)

Rue was so cute. And Thresh made a crazy-huge impression on me given he only had about ten seconds of screen time. I loved Katniss. And Peeta was adorable. But Rue my heart. >:

I liked it very much.

ETA: I have a job interview too!

Ruuuuuuuuuuue. ;~; I cried in the theatre, ngl. I feel bad for the guys sitting beside me because every time I thought I had my shit together, I'd lose it again.

Ugh I knoooooow. The Reaping did it to me too, which I didn't expect. Just. Augh. My heart.

One thing that really stood out to me was the sound design which was fantastic IMO.

Kinda wanna see it again.

Also yay job interview! What for?

ogod yeah, Katniss and Prim just made me wobble. I kind of liked that we saw her relationship with Prim play out, then we saw a sort of...idk continuation of that with her and Rue? It was just so bittersweet and augh. ;; And the riot in District 11 woooow. It was great to see that intense feeling of rage spill out. Haha I'm so stuck in my media theory ways I started analysing it according to Gramsci's view of a hegemony. [nerdery!]How it's ideology perpetuated through culture (as we see in the beginning when everyone's going on about how brave it is, etc) and the second the people have to be coerced or forced obviously into following it (District 11's riot and prolly, importantly Cato's realisation at the end that he was never going to win since most people from his district would have heard/seen it and I'm guessing if a career tribute from a rich district (the military one?) has that kind of epiphany broadcast to all of the other districts, that feeling is going to be echoed in future. So that hegemony can't be upheld for much longer and I ... )

Good luck with your interview!

And I recommend you read the book (i can only say book because i still have only read the first one)! Opinions on Suzanne Collins' writing style differ, but the book is better than the movie even though the cast was pretty much perfect.

I HAVE CONFLICTED FEELINGS ON THE MOVIE basically, but I am glad you liked the movie!

Ty!

Haha when I am not on an English lit course and can read whatever I want I might pick it up! I'm halfway through Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and Catch-22 and I still need to start Birdsong, so it's way, way down the list. The cast was lovely though.

I FINALLY LIKE SOMETHING YOU LIKE.

Oh, yeah, I remember that picture of all the books you had to read this semester. Good luck with all of them, and I hope they are all enjoyable... even if some of them make you ugly sob.

YOU ONLY HATE 80 PERCENT OF EVERYTHING I LIKE. WELL that's only if you like the book! I didn't hate the movie, but I didn't like it too much either. I make things difficult for us.

I've gotten through a large chunk of that list! It's been very enjoyable so far! Freedom is a little uncomfortable in places, but it's gripping. 26a was delightful even if it was heartbreaking. It was a good list. Except for England, England and Millennium People. Awful.

Goddamn you difficulty maker.
