I think the White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" fits reasonably well in there as it is a song by famous people about how much being famous sucks.

perhaps they're acknowledging they can't be counted upon for entertainment, since they have their boring moments?

or maybe they were tired of people at their shows standing up and leaving halfway through, and they're going on the defensive before you have a chance to tell them they suck? "whatever, it's not like I am here to please YOU. gah."
