It's simple. Berkeley is a fucking awesome place to live and Pittsburgh sucks!

But I hear Berkeley is in a not so nice neighborhood. D:

I dunno about Pittsburgh though. Other than that transportation to and from there sucks balls.

Naw. I mean, it's a city, so there's crime, but the University area's real nice in my opinion.

Pennsylvania as a whole pretty much sucks ass, but I western PA is especially awful. Winter's terrible and there's nothing to do out there.

Hmmm well I haven't actually been in the neighborhood at all, besides driving through. I have been a bit spoiled, having lived in cushy Silicon Valley for all my time in the US, but I'm sure I can adapt. I mean, it can't be worse than the places I lived in in China, hurhur.

Aaah, east coast winters. I have no idea what it's going to be like, and I don't much look forward to it. Though if the school is enticing enough, I wouldn't mind putting up with dying from the cold. It's not like I'm ever outside, anyway. X'D

ZOMG. Congrats again!

I have a friend in Berkeley's EECS program right now! He's always talking about how much he loves the labs. He practically lives in the lab.

Financial aid is always a bitch. =/

Thanks~! <3

:O That sounds great then! Nice labs = A+.

It annoys me how my EFC is higher than it should be. My family can't ACTUALLY afford college, but the FAFSA says we can without breaking a sweat. Damn federal gov't really ought to adjust their definition of poverty to specific zip codes. I mean, to survive in the Silicon Valley on the bare minimum, no TV, no internet, costs $37k for 1 parent 1 child. According to the fed gov't, that 1 parent 1 child only needs like 18k to survive.

Politicians sincerely need a reality check. :|

(lol you got me ranting there OTL)

Oh man, I can haul off and rant too, don't worry.

The government thinks my family can pay for it as well. Nevermind that we already sent my brother to school (with loans), and my mom went back (more loans). Of course we should punish the people bothering to improve their lives. -_- *shakes head*

Don't you hate that? There's also this "marriage penalty" with joint filing of taxes (specifically if the two people have ish-equal salaries) and the poverty line. Basically, it is more advantageous to live together as single persons than to be married, although studies have shown that married couples have less likelihood to be poor and stuff.

Thanks~!

Hahaha that's ok. It's something that is mostly (tho not really) exclusive to Californians and engineers, respectively.

Dude, college visits takes up most of my April I swear to god. OTL Cause I'm visiting basically all the colleges I got into, minus places like RPI (Rensselaer) that were my safeties and ones in CA that I have already visited. And if I get into Ivies, that'll be more visits.
