Weeeeeell, thats kinda hard seeing as that shadowy figure comes from around 200 years later! So unless they invent a time-machine in the 16th century.......!

Not as much as you'd think! I had a vague outline in my head of the type of class and background I wanted to have, plus the foreign parent to reflect my own situation. I liked Bodiam Castle so I looked into the history of it to see if it was somewhere I could be connected to and discovered Sir Edward Dalyngrigge. From there it was just a case of making the dates work. I tried to be half Breton for a while, but couldn't make it all work, but the Gascon thing works a treat! All in all I'd say a weekend's worth of work in total.

If you want to have fun with Gascons you could always claim to be a distant parent of Charles de Batz ;)

Well, you could always have a secondary persona (also called Melisande) who is early 16th century.... (Anything to increase the number of landsknecht-babes...)

This is a very nice piece of work. I'm seriously impressed compared to the sketchy one I have (for example, I've only just sorted out a surname- di Rienzo being a patronymic).

This looks great! When I created Ariel, I wrote up her history -- to the age I was at the time: 18. A couple of years ago, I realised that I wasn't 18 any longer and neither was Ariel. (Heck, she'd probably be dead by my age in those times. :) I still haven't re-done the story, though, of what happened to her post age 18. Did she marry? Where did she live? Etc.

Did she like Richard? What was her relationship with his daughters like? What is it like now that he's gone?

What is Melisende's favourite food? Who cooks it?

How big is the estate? How much of her day is dedicated to caring for it? Does she have overseers, etc that she has to manage?

Who will inherit the estate after Melisende passes away? (Grim thought, I know, but without children, that could be very important!)

I really like it, by the way. But, I may just pester you to take it from a history to a biography. :-D
