My first thought was 'Why?' because this is one of those film franchises that desperately needs to die a quiet death and not have its corpse poked at. If Disney wanted to perform a public service, then they could release the original films in their original theatrical form, sans Jar Jar Binks, burn the prequels and be completely done with it.

We need to know the details of the purchase. For all you know, Lucas may hold all creative rights to the franchise, which means more Jar Jar Binks and other absolutely horrid ideas making it to the screen.

On the other hand, it may also mean that Disney lawyers will begin laying the smack down on Star Wars fan films.

Or it could mean both.

So do I!!

My ideal result is Lassetter telling Lucas what makes for a good story, and letting Lucas keep letting whoever wants to make Star Wars fan films.
