"now this guy.. don't start him at PA, he's way overqualified. he doesn't have much experience, but he could learn very quickly and will do an amazing job. i was very impressed."

i'm not sure if thats exactly how it went, but i dont care. you ARE amazing. i still can't believe you really went out there. and you really are working towards this goal of yours. it's pretty brave and brilliant. I just wish LA was closer. i love you brother..

I've noticed that it's not experience in your given field that makes a difference, but experience in any field...if that makes sense. Like now I'm a post-production coordinator but I'm not going to advance in that field - I'll (try) to parlay that experience into story or production or something.

I agree. It isn't necessarily good to have a specific skill, yet. People expect you to know and understand every aspect of the business, which is a legitimate expectation. It's like being a Runner, sure your job just consists of dropping of tapes, and picking up equipment, but before I moved here I did not know that Wexler rented equipment, or that Monkeyland does audio. I can apply this knowledge in my next job even though I all I really did was drive around for three months.

True. And then you can be that guy in the office who knows where everything is, so people will come to you for directions. That's a skill alright!
