Written for multiverse5000. Battlestar Galactica/Firefly crossover. Spoilers for the series finale of Battlestar Galactica, but none really for Firefly. Set in late Season 3 and then through Season 4, indeterminate time-frames.

Consider this Inara Serra in the BSG universe, rather than a straight-up crossover.

See, my reasoning pretty much went:

Kara=Mal, Inara=a sucker for both of them. :)

The ending to this is perfect! And you're right, there is a certain similarity between Kara and Mal.

The beginning is also perfect in its description of Kara's reactions to Inara, with her combined envy and rejection of Inara's mastery of traditional femininity.

What, idk, I always expect crossovers to be gee-whiz and pointless. But this feels like it could be part of the show, it makes sense. Kara/Inara/the ship, this is a grouping I can get behind. You're fucking brilliant, you know that, right?

Argh, I totally missed this comment, man, so sorry about that.

But EEE. Yay, I am glad I am writing in your fandoms. (Though BSG escapes me so hard, I think now that's it's over I can actually attempt it, but while it was ongoing I was just a passive consumer, I couldn't bring myself to really commit fic...) But, but, yeah, I prefer crossovers which aren't about crossing over universes but crossing over characters, dropping them into new ground and seeing how they develop...

Plus. Yeah. Kara/Inara/the ship-- it's practically canon, whether we're talking about the anthropomorphised Serenity or the hybrid-ised husband/ship that is the Galactica, RIGHT?
