This song for me really is more describing how Roxas might have felt, or did, toward Axel. It’s how subconsciously Roxas would’ve wanted to be near him, even though he didn’t really remember him completely. It would be more of his dreams like ‘speaking’ to him about Axel. And it’s the way they felt when they were together all rolled into one. This is more metaphorical and definitely not straightforward in the sense I’m looking at it.

And I begin to fade

Beautiful Lie by 30 Seconds to Mars
This song just says it to me, it really does. No matter how well known or overused it may be. It’d have to be Axel singing to Roxas about the life he had and how that his life in Twilight Town was just a ‘lie.’ If I had to use this song in the actual game, I’d put it when Axel tries to go warn Roxas. Later in the song, it’d be Roxas trying to remember and him contemplating about Axel’s words.

It’s really scary how well this song fits to them. I think I heard this over the radio playing in my local deli when I went there with my friends. I didn’t hear a lot of the lyrics, but what I did hear really made me think about their relationship. It’s how they’ll meet again after they fade away into the light, which is the part in FM+ to me.

Breath by Breaking Benjamin
Definitely Axel and Roxas. No doubt. It’s the entire what Roxas can do to Axel and how Axel, though he might get killed for it, still stays by Roxas’ side. And Roxas tells him it, which is the entire ‘cause I’ll be the death of you’ line. It’s how Roxas needs to get the answers to his questions and the only way to do that is to let go of Axel.
So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what's left.

Would be Axel’s song telling Roxas how much he missed him, reminding him that they were at least best friends. It’s really telling that Axel wasn’t really ‘whole’ without Roxas, and you may say that Roxas was really half of Sora, I know. But it’s really how they’ve been separated. [lol], then if they did ever meet again in the next life they’d be fine and none of this would happen again, which I think is what the 2nd verse is really saying to me.

The lyrics to this song is relating more to Roxas in a way. But the first verse is more of Axel trying to explain why he doesn’t trust anyone in the Organization after Roxas had left, he was Axel’s best, and maybe only, friend there. The rest of the song is Roxas trying to understand why there is so much of a mystery surrounding him, and why he has the Keyblades.

Explain to me this conspiracy against me

It would be Roxas noticing that Axel is everything that he wants, but doesn’t really love him. This may be the cause of his way of thinking, or it may not happen, who knows? But Roxas is waiting for someone, Axel to remind him of everything, well more of Axel and he does trigger the important memories that Roxas did not have.

Omg, can I say Axel’s theme? This entire song has one big statement underneath if really. It is how much Axel wants Roxas to remember him and how he can’t forget about him, but Roxas just can’t seem to remember. That just really hurts Axel too. He just wants Roxas to remember him. Johnny
Rzeznik is such a genius for writing this piece. An absolute genius :D

I’m not a usual fan of his songs, but they really do relate, a large number of his songs do though. I picked this particular song because through the entire series I think Roxas/Namine is pressed just because Sora/Kairi is too. I think this is Axel singing about how he can see how Roxas and Namine relate, but there’s no way he can let go of his feelings even though how hard he tries. And in the end it all works, since they both feel that way. Axel wanted to let go of Roxas, but he couldn’t let the Organization win, which is another point in this song.

This entire song is about how Axel would really die to see Roxas, the one he remember, one more time. He wanted to be with Roxas just one last time. Which unfortunately in the series never happens. Cartel always used a bunch of details to convey a thought behind a song. If related to Axel/Roxas I think I’d be how they believe they can’t feel, that they are nobodies, but through the lies they will have someone save them and they will learn how it feels to ‘feel.’ I worded it oddly I think, but yes. And it also shows how they were before, compared to what they are when they meet up again in Twilight Town.
What it takes to make it real.
We're standing on the edge of this,

We lost what it takes to really make it feel.

The entirety of this song has to describe them. It is a complete akuroku song. Axel does literally die for Roxas in the game. And there’s no way Roxas would cry for Axel because he did really forget him. The sacrifice would indeed be Axel, even if he did sacrifice himself for Roxas’ sake. And the person missing would then be Axel.

I deem this Roxas’ theme, lol. This is more of Roxas’ determination to not die, to keep going on and not to give up. And how when Axel is with him, he feels ‘alive.’ In the first verse it’d be when Roxas is starting to notice Twilight Town may not be real, or everything that had been happening to him had just been a dream. Though it’s Roxas’ theme I’d need to throw some Axel in there. Lol. In the end parts of the song, those words definitely tell me that Axel was always waiting for Roxas and eventually went to go get him.

What Happened to Us? by Hoobastank
This I think would have Axel singing it. Very much so, but with Roxas adding in a few lines here and there. But the overall idea of this song for this pairing would be how they would look back at all the better days and how much they have changed since then. How bad it got, and how now there would be more distress than ever. Axel would be telling Roxas that, they could’ve made it better, could’ve tried harder, could’ve ‘seen another day.’ But they didn’t.

God, this was one of my favorite songs by Avril that actually made me tear up when I heard it. It really tells the story of their relationship from start to finish. Hello to goodbye. Axel would be Avril, yes he would, in this song. How much he did really miss Roxas, how maybe every little thing made Axel think of him. And in the game when Axel says ‘the roxas I know if long gone’ really fits to the ‘face I came to know is missing too’ part of the song. No matter how many times it might’ve been used for this pairing, it is still as true.
