She'd been trying to paint, colour in the little scale model in her bedroom. It was for a dream but Mal had been restless, bored, annoyed with nothing but grey, her husband off again leaving her behind to her own devices.

It's with a certain level of joy that she answers Arthur's summons, bringing with her a trail of the scent of her perfume and the paint she'd been using, one solo blue smudge on her elbow. Pausing just outside the door, she breathes in the air, hand on Arthur's shoulder for a minute in greeting.

"Such a beautiful day, non?" Mouth quirking into a smile as she turns to look at her, "Was something the matter?"

"If I must," she replies, teasing obviously. Mal abandons her shoes at her seat to pull her legs up underneath her, lean against the little table and tilt her face to the light.

"I never thought I would see the day when my Arthur would lay down her tools for a little wine and company," Mal comments, voice betraying her amusement, "Should I be worried? You are not about to impart some horrible news on me, lamb? Distracting me before it?"

There was something in the way Mal acted, how she spoke beyond her accent, that always held Arthur enthralled. She was so free, in her own home, her own body and even her own mind. It was exhilarating to watch.

"Yes, well, your Arthur realized she was missing the chance at making a friend and that just couldn't be allowed to happen, could it," she asked, raising her glass in toast. "And it's girl's night in."
