Early December 1978

So it's decided.

This is the end. This is the end of a lot of things. This is where the fear starts and everything I've had for the last few years ends.

It was good to have it, I loved having it, but I don't want to see it crash and burn around my ears. It was hard enough saying goodbye to Nick, I don't want to have to say goodbye to someone because they're dying. Because of all this mess.

I've been through having everything fall apart once, I don't want it to happen again. I am doing the right thing. I am. No doubts now, Abime.

For once in your life, make the right decision. Make it and stick with it. But don't walk out on them. I just don't want to hinder them, I don't want to get in the way, as that's all I've done when I tried to help.

I know I can't deal with this, so let it be. Let's walk away with dignity.

The only problem now is explaining this to Hestia. Oh, Jesus, fils de Dieu. Don't let the guilt eat you up, Abime.

Dear Albus,

This is very difficult for me to do, I would like to make that clear, I have thought about this intently for a while now, and I have come to a clear decision in my own mind that this is the right thing to do. I would like, from the end of this year, to resign from my post as professor of Arithmancy. I do hope I have given you enough notice to find a replacement, and I do know several people who might be good, if you were interested.

I am terribly sorry, but I am afraid that I have tried, exceedingly hard, to deal with the situation this country finds itself in, as well as my own issues, and I am afraid that I just can't do it anymore. Thank you, though, for all the assistance you have given me throughout these years, I will not forget that easily.

Sincerely,
Professor Abime Delame.

We need to talk soon. Seriously.

Hello there. Are you alright? But I could do with some advice here. Dieu, I ask for so much sometimes, I'm sorry.

Abime.

Ah, winter. Isn't it such a lovely season? Can't wait for the new year, I really can't.
