In the words of Liz Lemon....

..blerg. I have a cold, and I hate, hate, hate being ill. It's going, but through blowing my nose so much I've developed this sore bump on the underside of my nostrils thus now making it impossible to blow my nose without suffering an extreme amount of pain. Double blerg,

On to good news. I spent roughly three pounds in a charity shop and got the ( Read more... )

Funny, I was just about to post my very important thoughts on Pushing Daisies.

Overall I will continue to watch it, but my views are complex. But it is not my favourite show of all time.

also I am undecided over whether Lee Pace is gay. I googled to confirm, but views are split down the middle. There was a slightly suspect quote in a Houston gay newspaper, regarding his role in a film about a transgender woman and a soldier who has a relationship with her who is beaten to death (true story, apparently), where he discusses "fluid sexuality" and how labelling can be judgemental.

Hmmm.

Perhaps it's a marmite show. I unashamedly love it.

I can imagine how some people might not like some aspects- and it does has its flaws- but it's definitely number two on my list of favourite shows of all time after Arrested Development(it does probably share that spot with Veronica Mars or Freaks and Geeks). I judge that mostly by whether I'd ever re-watch it on dvd. If yes, then it's a favourite. It's a simple rule but it works for me.

There are rumours about Lee Pace. I'm undecided. If the only indication has been that he once played a transgender woman...well that's not really sufficient.

No, the transgender woman thing is not the point I was making. What I was referring to there was why he was being interviewed in the gay newspaper.

What I was referring to was the comment about fluid sexuality, which I've heard before, and generally in relation to "Do I really have to say I'm gay?" See also: Patrick Wolf.

A lot of Pushing Daisies I really like. Then it does something so awfully twee... specifically, that part in the pilot (or is it the second episode? Possibly the 2nd) where Chuck says something like "My mind is racing" or wandering or something and Ned replies "You need to give it a glass of milk and a turkey sandwich and find it a sunny spot to lie down in."

I am cringing as I recall that.

Also the who holding their own hand thing I find a little irritating. They're in love! They can't touch! I understand!

I didn't mean you, I meant all the people speculating on the internet may not have any cause for doing so besides his role as a transgender woman. Though 'fluid sexuality' says bisexual to me. Or someone who has studied Freud. I quite like the fact that he didn't come out with something defensively strictured, whatever his orientation.

That particular line was cringe-inducing. I find the more saccharine bits are more than balanced out by Emerson's sarcasm. You'll always have him rolling his eyes in the background when things get too cute between Ned and Chuck. I do wonder how they will resolve that 'no-touching' dilemma (which immediately made me think of George Snr). Personally though I think you get used to it. Though they always stand too close together, it's unnerving.

ps WHO is that in your icon? It's like one of the twins decided to become a brunette transvestite 70s porn star.
