Poll Beast of the East

For the record, this is just me getting an outside opinion. Don't feel like you'll offend me by choosing the first choice, unless your reasoning is complete horseshit.

So anyway. As I mentioned in my previous post, lookie what I got! :D ( Read more... )

Right! And the Mets played some great baseball at times in the year, as well as the Phils playing crap! It just so happened that the Mets' crappiest and the Phils' best were at the end of the season. So I do give credit to the Mets, they were a more-than-worthy opponent. They sure as heck didn't make it easy.

Oh my gosh, I usually could give a good goddamn about the AL but, with how well balanced they all are, I'm definitely going to be watching. Helps that I have a favorite in each series there too. ;P

I didn't vote, because I don't know how to vote. My answer may seem like a cop-out, but it is a combination of both. I mean, the Phillies had to win too. If it was just the Mets losing and the Phillies playing mediocre baseball, they definitely wouldn't be in the playoffs. If I had to pick one in the end, I guess I would say the Mets lost it because they had a good lead to go with just over, what, 17 games left? And it disappeared. That kind of team should not lose that badly. However, you have to just give the Phillies some due because I mean they could've just played whatever and just not caught the Mets.

We did awesome against the Rockies for some reason. Though in one game we did give up 6 runs in the top of the 9th, but came back to win it in the bottom of the 9th. So no worries. But yea. They are pretty scary, what with that offense. Though what have they won, 15 of their last 16? That streak, while impressive, time says "can't" last. The law of averages won't let it. Though the law of averages also would suggest the Cubs win the World Series sometime in my relative lifetime, so yea.

I bought the Trib when the Cubs clinched, and I'm totally going to frame them. SO PRETTY. XD

So uhm. I think the Mets blew it as much as the Phillies won it. Same goes for the Brewers and the Cubs. We couldn't have come from behind without them "choking," so we're in the same boat in that the team that was in front of us had been in first for a long time.

I don't think regular season matchups can gage as much as people think. You're usually not playing with the same roster as you are in the postseason (like I said, Eaton started twice against them in the regular season; he's not even on the roster now!), or even in both season series! Maybe I'm just being stupidly optimistic. I don't know what else to be at this point, though.

Though the law of averages also would suggest the Cubs win the World Series sometime in my relative lifetime, so yea.

lol yes, the law of averages also suggested the Braves not ruin my childhood and win the division every frickin' year. Baseball must not be familiar with this concept. :( *pats*

Hecks yeah, I should see about framing my Daily News. That page that I'm holding there is the back cover. The front cover says "Red October" with Brett Myers jumping into the fans' arms in the postgame celebration ( ... )

I'm biased but the Phils started 4-11 and the Mets finished 5-10. We had our crappy month in April and the Mets saved theirs for September. It doesn't matter when the wins/losses happen. The team with the better record wins. The Phils had one more win and therefore, the Phils won it.

I'm not too worried about the Rockies. I would've rather faced the Padres but I believe we can beat the Rockies. I have a good feeling about this series, just like I did when I woke up on Sunday morning.

BASEBALL in OCTOBER in PHILADELPHIA?!?!
I know!! Just think, in about 17 hours or so, we'll be watching the Phillies play in a playoff game. I'm excited! =D

Let's remember that it takes two, i.e. Philadelphia wouldn't have the division had they not played well enough to be there to take it, but let's face it: The Mets blew a pretty fair lead. Can you say 1969 Cubs? Wellthereyougo.
