Cole Hamels CAN move a rubber tree plant!

Haha, so, work yesterday wasn't as long and boring as I thought it would be. Well, it was pretty boring; I was substituting in the Gift (China, lamps, flatware, etc) department and didn't have many customers, nor can you really straighten/organize the department. But anyway. A tale to tell!

Okay, well, not really "revenge", but, just sort of messing with her. Anyway, now that I'm back upstairs, Beth is my department manager again. And on Saturday, she chewed me out for not "staying in my department", and I'm "not allowed to help customers with Toys" and blah blah who cares, she's a psycho control-freak on a power trip.

See, Boys used to be Boys&Toys, until they switched the departments around. Now Toys goes with Patio and Gifts, so, Michael is in charge of that. But customers don't know that, so quite a few come to me asking questions about Toys! And I'm happy to help them, especially since the Patio department is really busy, and I know a couple things about the Toys. And when we're slow, I've walked through the department to try and learn where things are, and what we have. This really pissed Beth off. It also pissed her off that I found 200 dollars worth of stolen Webkinz, because "that's not my job!"
It's not like I went out of my way to find them. I was going to buy the Koala Webkin and discovered his tag had been stolen, so I rooted around and found a bunch more with missing tags, and now they keep the Webkinz in a special case next to the register. Gee, I'm such a bad employee. According to Beth anyway. So basically, yeah, I'm not allowed to answer questions customers have of other departments that are right next to mine, even if they approach me , and I know the answer, and the other coworkers are busy. Nope. I'm just supposed to straighten the Boys department. Which won't MATTER because anything I try to organize, she'll just move right back to how she wants it.

So anyway, yesterday? I spent a lot of time talking to Michael, the aforementioned manager of Gifts/Patio/Toys, while he was at then register across the aisle from mine, and I joked, "oh, you should write up a good report for me for them to read at tomorrow morning's meeting." (because Beth would be there) And he was all, "oooh, alright!"
So he wrote up how I was "very polite" to customors, and "even though [I] was just cashiering and it wasn't my normal department, [I] did my best to answer the questions they had."
I'm sure Beth will love this. We were going to write that "Leanne rung up toys left and right while the Patio department was very busy, and customers complimented Michael on her extensive knowledge of the Toy section", but thought that might be too blatant. :P

Also, I swear she was fucking with me, because, after she came in, in the afternoon, twice I was standing at the corner of the department, talking with my coworker Juan, and the phone in Gifts would ring, I'd run back to answer, and both times no one responded; once was a dial tone, and once was dead air.

Eh.

-All I can think about the Phillies is that they lost 3 of 4 in the late June series last year. And they got Cole pitching tonight. I didn't even watch most of last night's game because they make me too damn mad, and because I've been so irritable and generally upset lately, I'm not going to voluntarily subject myself to such strife. I caught the last two innings because I woke up for the Marlins game. JDub...why? Also, here I thought Happ had at least earned himself another shot. I guess Manuel's "noncommittal" about if JA would go on Wednesday. Myers has had two good starts down in LV (last night's quite better than his first), but I mean, he had that no-hitter going against the Fish and then just tanked. I think it's a little quick to say "oh, he's totally set to come back up!"

-I'm happy about most of the All-Star selections, although I echo most baseball fans when I say "Why the hell isn't Kinsler starting?", considering he's leading, or almost leading, the league in almost every offensive category that Josh Hamilton isn't leading the league in. Hits, multi-hit games, runs, average. Second in doubles and triples. I'm sure there's more that I can't remember. Although, this is a mostly rhetorical question, because I think we all know the answer. Because he's not as "popular" as Dustin Pedroia. Don't worry, Kinslah, I would much rather have you sign my yearbook than Pedroia. ♥

-So, I might go to the Reading Phillies tonight. But it is all muggy and gross, so, that's pending.

go go power rangers!, teh phullies, work
