First Test: Freaky tree society in a bubble

Jan 19, 2011 16:30

So I'm stuck here, huh? I mean, not like I've got any place else to go I guess, but still. Whoever thought I'd end up in a tree? A tree in a bubble. Weird. And they expect me to get a job and be a 'productive member of this freaky tree society' or something ( Read more... )

it's a freaky tree, in a bubble, a bored anko is a bad anko, derp derp journals, that's new and different

Hello, Tomoe! It is very weird, but at least there are good jobs.

Finding out things is important, but it is also important to be careful, because finding out too much and speaking about it brings penalties. But there are many safe topics!

I guess. But it's just like any other job--gotta find the good ones.

You get penalized for finding things out?

Exactly! Do you have any idea what you would like to do?

The basic things are safe. Food, housing, jobs, and things like that. Questions like why, who, and how are not.

Nah, not sure yet. I hear there's a couple of things. Adventuring, shops, guarding. Stuff like that.

So

Right, so no trying to find out who the hell I was, why we're here or what's going on?

It's less boring than it looks, I think. [And not in a good way]

You could probably get a job as a cook, or in the Guards. Or one of the shops!

Hm well we'll see.

A cook... I mean I'm not that great, but I can cook simple stuff for a buncha people. Not a gourmet or anything...

A guard would be better I think. Unless it was boring, I guess

You probably saw a pair of guards when you were born; they're usually stationed at the hatchery to protect the cocoons.

If you're interested in doing their job, there's a test of battle skills before you can be hired to Guard. Ask around for Bastet or Lin. [Or Bell could do it, but he is lazy.]

Yeah I guess. I was a little overwhelmed at the time since, you know, big fucking tree, cocoon goo, no memories--all that.

...I don't think that would be a problem. I'll keep it in mind. Get to do a lot of fighting, do they?

Hello, Tomoe. Adventurer, scavenger, guard or the restaurant's cook seem to fit your preferences, but you can check the jobs listing in the Bazaar for more information.

Don't be alarmed if you see signboards and notes all over the place, though. They can be safely ignored.

Adventurer? I like the sound of that! Might as well check those listings then. That's on that map thing I got, right?

Ignore signs seems like strange advice, but hey. I can do that.

Yes, the orange one in the map.

Well, maybe not ignore all of them-I just told you to look at a listing after all. Just the less informative ones, like about someone's hair being dyed or dreams of electric sheep.

I don't know. I found those very informative.

It's not too hard to get used to. [ You know. The weird tree in a bubble. ]

I suppose it helps not knowing anything different besides a really crappy dream and warm goo baths.

That's one way to put it.

Plus, I guess, people'll get used to anything, in time.

You new here too then?

Yeah, this place is a li'l weird. Kinda grows on ya after a while.

Yanno, adventurin' or scavengin' might be a good idea for ya.

Most places do. Still, it's a tree in a bubble. Weird.

Someone else mentioned adventuring... and scavenging? Like parts?

Yup. Don't try to make sense of it or ya might end up with a headache and hafta see me at med.

Yeah, there's this place called the scavenger yard. Ya rummage through the stuff to look for things people ask ya to find. Talk to Bridge. He's in charge of the scavengers.

[the mention of medical does not ping her in a nice way... still, there's only a little pause before she's writing again, just as quickly as before.] Got'cha.

Doesn't sound too bad. Maybe that's what I'll do these three weeks. Try jobs out and see how I like em.
