If you're interested in the actor's other roles (as some people are), then you might be amused by Robert Carlyle's first series role as the title character in BBC Scotland's Hamish Macbeth. There are as far as I can tell no US DVDs available for the series, but episodes are available streaming on-line here.

Actually, the series is worth watching for its own sake, even if you're not an actor-completist.

LOL--I actually snagged it from a friend this weekend! Haven't had a chance to start watching it yet. I've seen Carlyle in a few other things before and always love his work.

It's a gentle and sad story and you frame it so well. I love the fragility of both the characters.
