Ashley's POV

I sat down at the table and looked at the boy sitting across from me. I felt my breath catch in my throat. It was Nick Fucking Jonas. I couldn't believe it. There was no way. I felt kind of weird being turned on by the fact that he was wearing one of my favorite plaid shirts with a bow tie. He was looking pretty fine. There was one curl that had gotten loose and was resting on his forehead. I wanted to reach out and push it back.

"Hi, I'm Ashley."

"I'm Nick."

"Ha-ha yeah I know. It's great to meet you."

His smile only increased when I reached my hand out to him. He took it and shook my hand. His hands were soft, but calloused from continuous guitar playing. I could tell that he was good with his hands. His handshake was also very firm. I could tell that he was very comfortable with who he was.

"So, Ashley, tell me about you."

"Oh, gosh! I don't even know where to start. Well, to be honest I didn't even think that I'd find anyone worthwhile at this thing. My friends were just tired of seeing me depressed or whatever over my ex and they thought this would be a good idea."

Nick smiled, "Your friends sound just like my brothers. Ever since I broke up with Selena, they've done everything they could to distract me. And no matter how many times I told them I was fine, they wouldn't believe me and they kept pestering me about it. And so here I am."

I couldn't get over how normal he seemed. It was like he was any other guy sitting across from me. For a moment I forgot he was one third of the most popular band in the world. I noticed how his lips turned into a small smile when he talked about his brothers, and how when he got excited he started talking with his hands. I didn't want to think it, but I could actually see myself with Nick.

I laughed at my silliness of thinking that I actually had a chance with Nick. It was pretty obvious that he thought this was all a joke, kind of like I did until I sat down. But still I couldn't help to picture us together, holding hands, falling in love. I knew I was crazy... but I couldn't help it, he had that effect over me. I started laughing out loud because I knew how crazy I was.

"What's so funny Ashley? I really hope it's nothing I said."

"Huh? Oh no, trust me it's nothing you said or did. I'm just sitting here thinking about us together. And then I realized that it was crazy for me to think that because you are Nick Jonas and what would you want with a normal boring girl like me when you can get any girl you want."

"Is that really what you think Ashley? That you aren't good enough for me? I came into this thing just to shut my brothers up, not expecting to find anyone I could have a conversation with. And then you sat down across from me, and my heart skipped a beat. I want to be here sitting across from you, I want to see you again. I could actually see me opening up to you and being with you. So, don't beat yourself up, because I can see the same things as you."

I couldn't believe he was saying these things to me, and meaning them. Sure, I've had guys tell me that before, but they just wanted to get in my pants. But with Nick, I knew it was different. Not only because of the ring, but because I could see it in his eyes that he believed the words he was saying.

The next thing I heard was the person over the loudspeaker saying, “Attention speed daters, you have 30 seconds to wrap up your dates before moving on to the next table.”

“Well, Ashley, I had an amazing time. I really hope we see each other again very soon.”

“I do too Nick.” I said as I took the slip of paper that he had been writing on for the past few minutes.

As I was walking away I read what was on the paper:

Now I'm speechless, over the edge, I'm just breathless, I never thought that I'd catch this LOVE BUG, again. Hopeless, head over heels, in the moment, I'd never thought that I'd get hit by this LOVE BUG, again. If you feel the same way, give me a call. 804-555-6750. -Nick J.

I had a feeling that I might be giving him a call very soon.
