Friday night had finally come; I had been waiting for this day all week. I was actually going out on a date with Nick Jonas; THE Nick Jonas. I still couldn’t wrap my mind around it. I had met Nick Jonas at a speed dating event and he had asked me out on a date.
I was standing outside of my closet trying to decide what to wear. I mean what do you wear on a date with a world famous rock star. I didn’t even know what we were doing. I knew Nick loved sports, and that there was a family fun center down the street that had go-carts, put put, laser tag, and batting cages. I could see him taking me there, but there was also a really nice and fancy restaurant downtown. I just didn’t know what we were going to do. I guess I could dress down and then when he got here if I had to, I would just change. I grabbed my skinny jeans and blue v-neck shirt out of the closet.
Just as I was lacing up my tennis shoes, I heard the doorbell ring. I went to the door and on the other side was nick dressed in a red plaid button down shirt and a pair of black jeans. His curls were damp; I could tell he had just taken a shower. That one unruly curl was hanging over his eye. He had a bashful smile on his face. My heart was racing with just the sight of him; I couldn’t believe that Nick Jonas of the world famous Jonas Brothers was actually standing outside my door waiting to take me on a date. I realized that I had been standing there for about two minutes just looking at him and not letting him in.
“Oh, ha-ha wanna come in? I’m almost ready getting ready.” He walked into my apartment and sat down on my couch like he owned the place. I smiled to myself because I knew that was just who he was, always had to be in charge. In truth, it turned me on, but I’m sure it did the same to the millions of teenage girls that were fans of his.
I went into the bathroom to finish getting ready. I brushed my teeth and washed my face. I looked at my mouthwash and wondered if I’d be needing it or not. I decided to be on the safe side and gurgled some. I took one final look at myself in the mirror and decided that I looked decent enough for my date with Nick.
“Alright, all ready to go.”
“Great. You look beautiful tonight Ashley.”
“Thanks, I guess. I just threw this on no biggie.”
“Well, that may be the case but it sure doesn’t make you any less beautiful.” I had to blush; he really knew what to say to make a girl weak in her knees. I followed him out to the parking lot where his classic mustang was parked. Being the perfect gentleman I knew he was, he opened my door for me and let me slide in before closing the door and walking to the driver’s side and starting the car. When he got into the car, he looked over and smiled at me before putting the car into drive. I continued to look at his profile. He had such a strong jaw line and freckles that dotted his face. I could picture doing things to his jaw line that I’m sure he wouldn’t be to down with, what with the purity ring and everything.
I saw him turn his head towards me and kind of look at me and then he said, “Hey what are you thinking about?”
I turned away and blushed he had caught me staring at him and thinking dirty thoughts, oh great. “Um, nothing just thinking about how awesome the date is going to be.”
“Ha-ha, I’m sure.”
We drove the rest of the way to the family fun center in silence. It wasn’t an awkward silence, just a comfortable silence, like we were comfortable enough with each other that we didn’t need conversation to fill the void. The silence gave me some time to think. I was more than grateful for this chance to go on a date with Nick, but I couldn’t help but to think what was going to happen when he actually went on the tour they’ve been in town rehearsing for? Would I get left behind? Would he ask me to go with him? And more importantly would I go with him if he asked me? I knew I couldn’t let these things get in the way of me having a good time, so I pushed them away at least for the remainder of the night.
When we got to the family fun center, Nick hadn’t been lying about having the place shut down for us. The place was completely empty with the exception of a few employees. Nick took my hand, which sent shivers through my whole body; his hands were smooth but calloused at the same time from years of guitar playing. His grip was strong but at the same time. Our fingers intertwined with each other’s and a smile crept up on my face, I couldn’t get over the fact that I was holding hands with Nick. He looked over at me and our eyes met and we both smiled, and I could tell that his feelings for me were true, this wasn’t a game for him this was real.
We played a game of put put, hit a few balls in the batting cages, and of course Nick was completive as ever, he won everything and whenever I was winning he would get moody. It was funny to see him get upset about losing and then when he would pull ahead he would get as happy as a five year old on Christmas morning.
We decided to do the go-karts, and placed a bet on who would win. My prize if I won was an ice cream cone, but he wouldn’t tell me what he wanted. After a few laps around the track, Nick, of course, won the race.
“So, Nick what’s your prize?”
He didn’t answer, but instead came closer to me and leaned in and kissed me. His lips were so soft, his kisses were amazing, and I had never been kissed like that before. There was so much feeling behind the kiss; he truly wanted to kiss me. “That was my prize.”
I smiled and took his hand and led him back to the car. The night had been one of the best dates I had ever been on and I couldn’t wait to do it again.
