My little girl celebrated her birthday just a few days ago! Oh, she's one now and when I see her tottering around the house shouting at things it - it brings tears to my eyes. *proud sniffle*

Soon she'll be starting school and then getting her first girlfriend and starting college and... ...THEY GROW UP SO FAST. *wails*

Oh, no, I missed her birthday! I am so, so sorry! I meant to get her something ... I'm really sorry! It really is amazing how quickly children grow up, but, um, you shouldn't be upset - there's plenty more wonderful times to come with her, and you should look forward to those! *smiles*

Oh, darling, don't worry about it! We were off at the park enjoying the sunshine. You should stop by, though, she would love to see you again. *beams, wiping her eyes* I know, but it feels like there's so little time left...

I definitely will come by! Um, I do want to get her a present, though. What do you - do you think she would like? I'm ... pretty useless at thinking of good presents, especially for children. Sorry. *smiles* That's probably what all parents think. I suppose it makes you enjoy every moment all the more, though ...?

Hmm... Maybe something soft to chew on? A few of her teeth are still coming in and she chews on anything she can reach. Her poor teddy. *dabs at her eyes* Oh it does, darling, it does.

Goodness, was it her birthday, really? ...I guess it has been a year... do you want to have a party for her? And... um... why does she shout so much? *looks frazzled*

Err... um... girlfriend? Um... oh... there there, I know exactly how you feel.... *pats her on the shoulder*

On the twenty-second, darling! ...I'm not sure why she's been shouting so much. I think it might be a phase. *blinks as Sybil goes running by, yell-babbling something about kitties*

*blinks also, watching her go past* ...Goodness! I certainly hope it's only a phase....

*sighs as Sybil bounces off a wall and lands flat on her rear, starting to wail like a banshee* ...I'm hoping her uncoordinated phase ends at some point soon, too... *scoops the toddler up, patting her back and murmuring soothingly*

...It is Sybil Baby Thing birthday? ...I should get present?

*frowns when Noah starts wailing, confused and mildly upset, pats her on the head*

You don't have to get a present if you don't want to, darling.

*sniffles, now rumpled and slightly stooped at the patting* ...Thank you.

Oh... okay. *isn't inclined to make the effort, then*

*nods* ...Why is you sad? *relieved to see her calming down*

I'm going to miss my baby when she's all grown up and sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night, stealing the car... *eyes fill with tears again*
