Wow. You just laid out some sexy food talk right there. I've considered being a vegetarian a few times but your dedication to being vegan is something to admire! Do you just apply veganism to your eating habits or to your whole lifestyle (clothing, makeup, etc.)?
thank you! lol veganism IS sexy xD but i actually started as a vegetarian; generally speaking, it's easier for a person to transition through vegetarianism, because weaning yourself from things like cheese is difficult if you were as in love with it as i was lol. i found it made things alot easier to transition if you do research and read various things regarding vegetarianism and veganism. i read 'skinny bitch' and a vegan cookbook, along with other articles via msn.com and recommended websites. :) my ultimate goal is to convert everything to the chemical- free, natural versions, but i have to find the right things first. i've never bought cosmetics that test on animals, or real leather or fur, and the only wool i've ever had was given to me several years ago. the sheets on my bed, though, are organic cotton (and let me tell you- that set is freaking AWESOME soft! :D). it's a slow process changing everything, because there's alot of thought and experimentation that goes into it all. :) but if you have any questions or anything, i'd

thanks, sweet pea! :) i've been almost a year without meat, but the veganism is somewhat newer; i've only just been detoxed fully lol- about a month or so. vegetarianism is admirable in itself :)
lol vegetarians eat cheese, they just don't eat meat. or some eat chicken, or fish. i didn't eat any of it, because my mind did a whole psycho-somatic thing where everytime i tried to eat meat, my stomach would churn to the point of violence lol. my mind decided i would be a vegetarian. i found it easiest to leave meat alone when it was centering on my own health, instead of protecting the lives of the animals. associating danger to your own body with meat invokes your basic physiological instincts, and it becomes natural habit to stay away from the things that hurt you. :) congrats on the no red meat! :D
Oh, good for ya! That is really inspiring my dear...Your dedication, your passion, your obsession! I've tried being a vegetarian myself (still don't eat red meat), but no strong will i guess. Or was it because i don't even know what maple syrup is? Or the pizza? All those side effects of meat you mention though, make me think veganism is worth trying for..Its a slow but interesting process.
thank you :) it's the only thing i've been able to stick with as far as dieting goes. xD there is a difference in vegetarianism and veganism; vegetarians can eat cheese and drink regular milk; vegans don't, unless it's soy products (there's also rice and almond milk). and maple syrup is just a sweetener, in liquid form, usually used by the masses (as i call them lol) on pancakes. but it can be used for any number of things, and the organic versions are really really good for your body, not to mention taste good. :) and yes, there are several side effects of eating meat that go unnoticed (generally because they're touted as "healthy" by the government), but when you cut out meat and meat by-products, these side effects go away and it's like your body can circulate properly. :) it's a seriously slow process, though, once you start changing everything; even little things like body spray can have unnatural and harmful chemicals. so there's a lot of label reading going on with me lol.
I know exactly what you're talking about... Esp. as far as our health is concerned!:) (See, I'm a biologist) But my biggest failure in that process is that i am quite lazy and I also combine my mood with food, if you know what i mean...That means I can go out 3am to find ice cream because i had a fight with my bf. And where can I find one made by soy products?
I really think i should consider it carefully from now on. Oh, And that contributes to the environment as well. Seeing as Cows contribute a large amount of methane to the air, lol. That goes along with the spay and stuff.
Seriously, good for you. Thanks for the inspiration!
the food we take in is the most basic, though most significant, source of our health. it's what keeps our bodies going, so if you're eating sludge, you'll feel like sludge... i didn't realize what an impact food had on my body until i changed what i was putting in it... emotional eating practically stops when you're eating properly, since it affects the way your brain processes things, and in all honesty, having a nutritional diet makes you feel not only lighter as far as your body is concerned, but it also helps your mind process things (whether they are stressful or happy) in a lighter manner. and believe me, i used to be the laziest type of person- dinner would be cheese because i didn't feel like making a bowl of cereal. but when i changed my foods, my energy picked up, and i found myself interested in experimenting with foods and cooking. i find my soy products like milk in the same section of the grocery store as regular milk, just in a different cooler. the kind i drink is "Silk" and it comes in a carton instead of a plastic

I had to cut out red meat about 7 years ago & I don't miss it or the tummy aches that it caused.
( but a few pointers on how to be a leetle bit better at it would be great. )

I missed the steaks at first, though, I really did. But I gotta admit, living on the Gulf has it's advantages - Yay for seafood!
