Photographs of Point Reyes an hour or so north of my house. Taken back in May, which is one of the prettiest times in the Bay Area because summer alternates between cold and dreary fog and horrible heat that kills everything.
Although it is utterly gorgeous in still photographs, the wind was nearly strong enough to blow me off-balance and it was very, very cold coming off the ocean.
I have no idea what kind of flowers these are, other than Hardcore Flowers because they grow on rocky cliffs at the tip of a peninsula.
This is part of a well system. Rainwater collects around it and filters down into a collection system. Then the lighthouse keepers have/had (I can't remember if the system is still in use) fresh water.
... Dangerous waves and rocks.
The Point Reyes lighthouse! AAAAALL the way down there, which is 300+ steps fighting against previously mentioned strong winds.
The original lighthouse system is no longer in use, but they keep it nice and spiffy for visitors. It is pretty damn impressive. My pictures do not do it justice.
Time to walk back up the stairs.
After the lighthouse, we visited a cove where baby elephant seal pups were living! I would like to mention that when I was physically there I could almost not make out the seal pups because my eyes were watering so strongly from the wind.
My sister, upon seeing the pictures: "They look like slugs. Ew."
Up later in California Photo Posts: Why Fog Does Not Mean Things Aren't Gorgeous.
