Again, as I commented in- I think -one of theomniadam's posts, it depends on which civilization you're speaking of. There is no blanket statement you could make that, with any definition to it, could fit any two countrys/kingdoms, let alone city-states within them. Freedoms provided in, say, Archon, would not be the same as those of D'Jac, nor would the socio-economic model, the chief imports or exports, the design of the cities and buildings, the legal structure, the moral codes, military, or form of government.

This particular mini-forum is getting a tad too crowded, given the man at the heart of it all- moi -is currently riding on 24k average for his connection. I'll be making another post soon in my lj proper, and move the forum there to continue. Once there, I can have the space to properly give the kind of attention to your question that it deserves.

Question anonymous August 24 2004, 22:54:35 UTC
Could you perhaps explain in more detail about the other characters? Like Shinobi, Iori, Seta, etc.

Is the world under the rule of one nation or is it split into many different nations?

What different races will be in this anime, since it is fantasy human, elf, dwarf?

What is the motivation for the 'enemy' characters, what are after or want to accomplish?

Shinobi was born Seigan Rairyuu in one of the numerous Western villages spotting the land. The Rairyuu family imigrated across from the Eastern lands to support the kingdom of Archon, at first in their localized wars, then ultimately in the infamous Kir Wars. They managed another fifteen years of peace before, during a period of unusual civil unrest, their village and its inhabitants met a firey demise at the hands of unidentified soldiers in black armor. Seigan survived with only a deep scarring wound on his left cheek, below the eye, and the memories of that night's slaughter, which haunt his nightmares. He was taken in by Chou Hyun at the request of his dying aunt, who fled to Hyun's Monastery of Knowledge in the Archon coastal capital of Arageist. Chou Hyun raised the boy within the Monastery's confines, allowing him to grow under his care with honor, and taught him in his own style of martial arts, the ancient and powerful Zan'ei-Ken. The boy grew to encompass many of the traits of his father-figure Master, including- at ( ... )

hmm... another question does spring to mind actually... are you going to include lycanthropy(were-creatures) in the world that your creating or are you just going to leave it to the Kujaf, Ferro, and the Vorn?? and if so how are you going to work the lycanthropy?? some things that you might want to consider if you do include them are: digitagrade vs. plantagrade, voluntary transformation vs. involuntary, different forms if at all(human/halfway/hybrid/halfway/animal/pure), how does one become a lycan(spiritual vs. inflicted vs. contageous vs. born that way), etcetera and so-forth...

also im guessing celestials are like angels?? what is the relationship between them and demons??

Lycanthropy, and your second question in regards to celestials and demons, are actually directly connected. It works like this; in the beginning, the space the world of Ramana now fills was a swirling nexus of raw mindless Chaos, devoid of purpose or desire, but instinctively destructive. They filled the planar space because the region was riff with potential fertile energy, the kind of energy that could support a massive populated plane. As such, the self-sustaining energies fed the Chaos, keeping them instinctively close to it. Over time, the numerous gods became aware of the region, and desired to populate it, form and mold it into their own image. Each by themselves sent forth their champions, raw elemental beings based around their respective domain. Each one met decent results at first, but eventually the powerful Chaos would crush their army once it went too deep into their territory. Again and again, they massed an army, attacked, and failed. However, they gradually became aware that one another were all attempting the ( ... )

Okay. On the part of Cornell's sister, I can see her being mistaken for atleast Celestial, some of the older elves may call her the Goddess of Nature and some fan boys...well, I don't know if we'll even show here in the anime. He probably would hail from the dominate tree zone. But remember, there's more than one kind of elf in them thar woods. To clarify, a Paladin in Europe was usually a stead fast follower of the Gods. But a Tuetogen Knight! Now that's different. German knights only believing in their god and everyone else's is false. Cornell more or less borders on two gods. His racial god and the God of Justice or Good which ever one we decide on ( ... )

The introduction of spells will be handled much the same way the introduction of new techniques in any given style... off-screen, and only shown in the actual learning process if it is key to the character or important to the plot. As for dominant spells... hrmn. For Am, Sea Serpent (high pressure water blast in the shape of a serpent), Light Sparks (think Ray of Light meets Magic Missle), Dust Devils (you played King of Fighters yet? Joe Higashi's tornado move.), and eventually Flight and Ocean Soul (her biggest badda-boom, and VERY cool to watch.). Sui, other than the obvious Strength and Heal, Empower (think Bless but more focused; get hit with one of his daggers that have been Empowered and you WILL taste the rainbow of fruit pain) and Celestial Light (again, Ray of Light... but a bit more badass overall), then in the later seasons Cross Explosion (remember that little pillar move of his? Back with a vengence) and Wrath (And you shall KNOW I am the Cleric of the God of Strength... when I lay my vengence upon you. *sound of ( ... )

magic? poiuppx August 26 2004, 19:02:47 UTC
Is magic an inborn ability in Dragonfly or can anyone learn it with some training?

Re: magic? poiuppx August 27 2004, 03:03:57 UTC
In a short answer, anyone can. In a longer and more exact answer, it stems from the inner energy position I stated way back near the start of this forum. Anyone CAN learn it, just like technically speaking anyone can learn to be a Blademaster or Royal Crimson Guard or Shadow Assassin. But magic taps beyond just usage of the energy like one would use in the real world to endure a long run, or lift an extra-heavy load. It pulls forth the raw essence of the energy, either through-and-out, or out, of the mage. To be able to master this is a hell of a feat, to keep it up from spell to spell an even greater one. Sure, the payoff is usually big and flashy. Sure, all things made equal, one swordsman versus one mage would equal one dead swordsman. But mages run a much higher risk of tapping themselves out, or even killing themselves, by using too much energy. So anyone can learn it. But not everyone who can have any desire to for those self-same reasons. That said, there can be a genetic predisposition towards magery, or a certain ( ... )

Hey, what about Sorcerors? Those aren't necessarily genetic hand me downs. But they can channel the flows of magic equal to or better than a train magician! You gonna show any difference between the two?
