Good Morning Everyone :) well, I'm 4/4 for the last 4 months, getting sick in every single month...I am supporting the Dayquil/Nyquil industry :) I went to the gym yesterday with a friend and I wonder if that may have done me in, or if I was already on the road to being done in...*taps flannel head*

A Walk in the Woods

Maybe I'm too hard-core, but I was really not impressed with this book at all. It is non-fiction about a guy who says he's going to hike the Appalachian Trail. He is able to recruit this over-weight fellow to join him, and you can imagine what happens. The Trail is over 2000 miles long, so why they think they can just up and do it was beyond me from the get go. To walk it with nothing seems barely reasonable, but to have a full pack of clothes and eats makes it that much more untenable. And if they're your typical American, they're at least 20 pounds overweight, and that's me being nice.

They quit trying pretty early on, so the whole hike things fails. And as someone who's run races before, placed next to last, I don't quit. I think quitting is just as bad as failing, although that may explain why I don't go after things, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I guess they have that on their side. But it was a very frustrating book.

They have these lofty goals and you can tell almost from the outset it isn't going to happen. I guess I could be kinder and say it was an amusing ride, but I was just turned off early on and although it was written very well with good sarcasm, I was just not into it. I think being a little sick is making me like the book even less :p

These book club books have been misses lately, no? okay, I need to get more kleenexs and eat something so I can take my Dayquil. Take it easy, everyone :)
