[The island has been good to him.
Not good enough to cause him to forgive any of its little transgressions, of course; he still intends to lay waste to this place in the end. At the same time, the smirk crossing his features indicates that he might tolerate a few more days in which he's shoved in a skirt or restricted to nothing but lies if he's going to continue to receive compensation for it.
His gaze darts skyward, and he seems pleased with what he sees; it isn't long before a Swellow swoops down low, alighting across his shoulders and dropping a tapered black object into his hands. He reaches back, offering Swellow a rare affectionate gesture in the form of a light stroking down the center of the chest before recalling him; as much as Maxie tends to prefer ground and fire types, there are distinct advantages to having other rather common Pokémon in his arsenal.
After all, there's nothing unusual about such Pokémon being in the more populated areas, and Maxie has been granted a few new toys to play with.
He reaches into his pocket then, pulling out a few strips of paper before manipulating the black object in his hands; it isn't long before the base flares up, and he wastes no time in holding the paper over the flame. Rather than going up in a small and rather anticlimactic blaze, however, patterns begin to appear on the paper; he repeats the process a few times, that smirk broadening as new images make themselves clear.
Even though the sound is relatively quiet, when he laughs the sound is harsh and manic. Clearly, he's pleased with what he's seeing.]
Pay your respects to a greater intellect; you're just a pawn, does this confession turn you -
[...wait, what.]
...on?
[You have to be joking.]
[OOC: No arrangements? No problem! The name of the game here is Improv Medley!
Hopefully we all know how medleys work - for those who don't, it's pretty much a bunch of songs sewn together in a mildly coherent but sometimes ultimately nonsensical manner. All that matters is that they're vaguely related and the switchoff makes some odd form of sense. Given that this is Awesome Island, I expect this to end up ultimately nonsensical, but that's part of the fun here.
Here's how it works:
+ As with the event itself, both direct usage of lyrics and parodies are perfectly fine!
+ You can either stick with the song you've been given, or you can switch to something else of your choosing.
+ The only rules regarding the switching of songs is that the lyric itself should make at least tangential sense with what's been going on conversationally, and I ask that you please post the song title as the comment subject so I can keep up with what you're doing. Other that that, do what you will!]
