They want to break her.
She won't give in. Not yet. After all, she still remembers. And she swears if she ever gets away, she will find her family.
Despite the fact that she was told they gave her up. That they didn't want her anymore. She's not sure if she believes them. But the experiments mess with her brain, with her memory, and she knows she needs to find her family before she forgets.
They want to break her.
She hates what they do to her. And when they finally relieve her and leave her with the man trying to become her father, well, she hates them even more.
Because there are rules, he tells her. Things she can and cannot do. He threatens her safety, tells her that he’ll give her back to the aliens, if that’s what she wants. If she can’t behave.
So she listens to what he says. And she doesn’t speak out, act out, nor draw any attention to herself. She remains a good girl, a good daughter to him, all the while waiting for her chance to escape. An escape she is certain might never come.
