I know this is going to sound really stupid, but do artists have to do this as well as a separate thing or is it simply a matter of giving the link for your piece to your writer and you make a big joint post together?

If my story is still a few scenes short of finished, what do I do with word count? Just give the current one?

Yes, just give me a rough estimate! When you're finally done and actually posting it on your assigned day, just update your wordcount at that time to reflect your final tally. Sound good?

Also, I'm not clear what you want from us exactly with regards to the link. Just where we plan on posting it? I'm planning on posting it to the forum I run and my DA, possibly my ff.net- do I just link to those places in particular?

What some people have done is include empty links in their masterlist--like Chapter 1 (see how the link is empty?). Then, in a side note to us (not part of the template), they let us know where the link will actually point to once it's posted (FFN, dA, etc.). On your posting day, you just fill in the blanks so that your chapters all point to the right places.

Also, you're welcome to link to all of your mirrors in your masterlist if you want to, but it's not necessary. You could link to just one if that will make it easier for you.
