Title: Interior Decorating
Rating: G
Verse: Games, Gen I/II
Characters: Green x Red
Summary: Red wasn't the flashiest person on the holidays, but has a surprise for Green under the surface. Gift for cherinbo

Some people decorated their houses for the holidays; Green knew better than anyone that Red wouldn't. Not to say Red's mom didn't; his mom and Green's mom had a friendly house-decorating competition in Pallet Town each year. (With a smug grin, Green knew his family already won. That's the benefits of having an older sister named Daisy.) Even if the Champion status didn't give him away, Red was too conservative to do anything wild. Too bad!

"Nice job, Pikachu." Red complimented on his Pokemon's handiwork. The kitchen smelled of rich cinnamon, and Pikachu squeaked with pride, placing an extra gumdrop on top of its gingerbread house. It was busy enjoying an iced graham cracker, and spread crumbs all over the table.

"Left some for me?" Green snickered. His Eevee popped onto his shoulders, eying the candy houses and smacking its lips.

"Plenty." Red grinned. Eevee looked pleased about that, and jumped on the table to join Pikachu. There was a glint in the fuzzy brown creature's eye; why settle for building a cottage when you could build a gingerbread palace?

Red's cottage didn't look much on the outside, but the interior was something else. His Pokemon had a hand in it, of course. Pikachu provided all the electricity the house needed, and streams of green and red, blue and yellow trickled the edges and corners of the ceiling like an enchanted ice lake. Snorlax lay hibernating, circled by a row of silver and gold candles. A sweet fragrance accompanied the incense, and Venusaur's presence made it stronger than ever. With a sleepy but proud gaze, it used a vine to drop marshmallows in a mug of hot cocoa with whipped cream. It gently placed the mug in Green's hands without spilling a drop. Drink it and like it, The grass starter's expression read. Happy holidays.

Dry ice permeated the floor like a colorful cloud, and Lapras bowed its head singing, donned with a veil that gave the ferry Pokemon the appearance of an angel. There were stars on the ceiling, thanks to Reflect and the psychic illusion crafted by Espeon. Blastoise released bubbles from its cannons, which reflected their surroundings like elegant crystal bulbs. Charizard provided heat and comfort, looking smug as it crossed its arms and stood guard by the fireplace.

"All this... for me?" There was a hint of sincerity in Green's voice... not that he wanted to give Red the wrong idea. The thought shrugged off when his rival held his shoulder and invited him to sit down. Puffs of steam like little clouds rose from their mugs and it was nice.

"Yes." Red smiled. Always simple and to the point. Green wasn't about to sacrifice his pride with words, so he did the next best thing. He wrapped his arm around Red for a short kiss, snickering at his rival's expression and the cocoa-flavored lips that snipped back in response.

The mistletoe had a part in that... funny how despite all the splendour of the holidays, it's the simplest ones that taste sweeter.
