... is it really so long since I posted?!

A very happy birthday to deborahw37I'm listening to Any Questions on Radio 4 where, amongst other high BP inducing topics they've been discussing the measurement of happiness. I thought I'd helpfully get in early to satisfy Cameron's curiosity about such matters by saying that happiness is the return of Peep Show ( Read more... )

Mmmm Derek Jacobi as Claudius again \0/

Thanks for the birthday wishes

A general election would make the perfect gift! Failing that a plague of boils on Tory and Lib Dem's most tender spots would raise my happiness index!

I'm liking the plague of boils notion! I don't think us opposition are in a robust enough state to capitalise on another election just now, sadly, so I'll settle for pustules in the short term.

Hope you're having a fab day!

"Unhappiness is the dogma-driven unravelling of the welfare state, education system etc etc in a fast and furious fashion that Thatcher *spit* could only have dreamt of, compounded by middle class (squeezed or otherwise) tut-tutting about a fire extinguisher..."

Yes, you and me both love. :( But what worries me the most is the medias seeming wall of silence about all of this and how It's effecting the poor/sick/disabled in our society.

I suppose It's the 'I'm alright Jack so I won't say anything against it' attitude in evidence.

I guess I don't expect anything else from the right wing dominated print media. I've been appreciating your round-up of reports and discussion of the issues by the way.

I'm luckier than many sick/disabled folks and have my ex-employers to thank for that in enabling me to sidestep the system. Doesn't mean I can't understand the problems and the stress people are going through and on the ground individuals seem to grasp it too if you give them facts and examples. Collectively as a society, not so much... another of Thatcher's legacies!
